{"id":1229,"date":"2025-07-09T08:29:04","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T08:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vicpickup.com\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2025-07-21T09:22:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T09:22:24","slug":"mills-boon-presentation-wins-3mt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vicpickup.com\/?p=1229","title":{"rendered":"Mills &#038; Boon presentation wins 3MT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I was delighted to win the Vitae Three Minute Thesis\u00ae (3MT) award at the University of Reading&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/doctoral-researcher-college\/events\/phd-conference\">Doctoral Conference 2025<\/a> which took place on the 18th June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vitae.ac.uk\/support-services\/vitae-three-minute-thesis-3mt-competition\/\">3MT award<\/a> challenges doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance in just three minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entering under the School of Humanities, my talk was titled: &#8216;Sorry not sorry: The invisible women behind Mills &amp; Boon&#8217;. My aim: to debunk the disparaging reputation surrounding the books and highlight the forgotten female authors who built a brand that became a household name. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competing against eight finalists, I was thrilled to be announced as the Judges&#8217; choice on the day, and receive a certificate  from Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Parveen Yaqoob OBE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s to many more opportunities to discuss the women authors behind Mills &amp; Boon &#8211; I&#8217;d like to express my gratitude to the lovely judges who allowed me to shine a light on their forgotten stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can watch my presentation<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qzFDFZqTLNE&amp;ab_channel=UniversityofReading\"> here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was delighted to win the Vitae Three Minute Thesis\u00ae (3MT) award at the University of Reading&#8217;s Doctoral Conference 2025 which took place on the 18th June.
